Georgia Football Facts

The Georgia Bulldogs play their home games at historic Sanford Stadium on the university's Athens campus.

Georgia is the only school to bury its past mascots—all bulldogs—inside the football stadium.

They have a rivalry with Georgia Tech going back to 1893. The rivalry is known affectionately as “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” as the schools compete for the same resources.

The first game was won by Georgia Tech. Georgia fans did everything they could to prevent that outcome, including harassing Georgia Tech players on the field, tripping them with canes and the like.

Hedges in Sanford stadium conceal a low chain link fence. Georgia's fans rushed the field but once in Sanford Stadium history, after a win over Tennessee in 2000.
