After an eight year break, Duck Dynasty is quack at it.

Duck Dynasty: The Revival premieres Sunday, June 1 at 9pm ET on A&E (channel 118). At the peak of the show’s original 11-season run from 2012-2017, Duck Dynasty became “the most-watched non-fiction series in cable history,” according to A&E. The show centered around the large Robertson family, their Duck Commander business, and their lifestyle in West Monroe, Louisiana. The new series will feel familiar to fans of the original while shifting its focus to the younger, less hairy generation of the Robertson clan.

What is Duck Dynasty: The Revival About?

Just a week before the show’s premiere, the Robertson's received tragic news: Duck Commander founder and family patriarch Phil Robertson had died at age 79 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. But due to his declining health, Phil was never going to participate in the new series. Instead, Duck Dynasty: The Revival is more focused around the now-adult children of Willie and Korie Robertson. Here’s the official description courtesy of A&E:

Duck Dynasty: The Revival centers on Willie and Korie Robertson as they navigate life with their growing family of adult children and grandchildren, now part of the next generation carrying on the Robertson legacy at their Louisiana homestead. As the family business expands beyond ducks, Willie and Korie bring their signature wit and down-home charm while they explore the future of Duck Commander, support their children through marriage, parenthood, and entrepreneurship, and work to keep their legacy alive. However, Willie quickly realizes that this next generation isn’t as Robertson as he originally thought.

Much like the original series, Duck Dynasty: The Revival showcases Willie’s funny and irreverent personality, the Robertson’s close bond, and sprinkles of their deep faith (each episode of the new series still ends with a family prayer before mealtime).

Who is in the Cast of Duck Dynasty: The Revival?

The series is anchored by Duck Commander CEO Willie Robertson and his wife Korie (other members of the original cast make brief appearances). The premiere sees Willie returning to the Duck Commander offices, which his children have updated to include podcast studios and coffee bars (not to mention a museum cataloging the Robertson family’s rise to fame and fortune). With Willie deciding to semi-retire, the search is on for his successor. But it turns out, the younger generation of Robertsons aren’t nearly as skilled at (or interested in) the outdoor lifestyle behind their family fortune.

If longtime Duck Dynasty fans can't recall all of their children, don't worry: Willie’s branch of the family tree has grown so large, even he and Korie have difficulty remembering them all. The younger Robertsons include eldest son John Luke, who has taken an interest in coffee roasting; podcaster and former Dancing With the Stars runner-up Sadie; very-pregnant fashion designer Rebecca, the oldest of all the kids; son Will Jr., who, despite living with his wife in Dallas, still finds plenty of time to visit his family in Louisiana; and youngest daughter Bella, who is a published poet (youngest son Rowdy does not appear in early episodes of the show). With more than a half-dozen small grandchildren to wrangle, the Robertson family is a tight-knit unit, with many of the children continuing to live on the sprawling Louisiana compound.

Beyond the adventures of Willie’s kids and grandchildren, other members of the Duck Dynasty cast who make brief appearances in the first three episodes include Willie’s brothers Jase and Jep, and their quirky Uncle Si, who organizes a hunt for Bigfoot. Duck Commander staff members Justin Martin and John Godwin both appear in the show as well. The Robertson kids’ spouses also have a significant role in the series, with Sadie’s competitive and athletic husband Christian and Bella's prank-happy husband Jacob making the biggest impression in the first three episodes.
