Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Jets - 1pm ET

There are two reasons why this is one of the top games across the entire slate of Week 1 games: Aaron. Rodgers. His career with the Green Bay Packers was legendary. His two-year stint with the New York Jets was entirely forgettable. Now Rodgers finds himself on his third (and likely last) NFL team, a Pittsburgh Steelers squad that’s filthy with defensive talent but has struggled to find a consistent signal-caller since Big Ben Roethlisberger retired. Rodgers is undoubtedly motivated to redeem himself after two seasons of injury and insults, but don’t count out the Jets. With a feisty new head coach in former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator (and Jets first round draft pick) Aaron Glenn and top offensive skill players like WR Garrett Wilson and RB Breece Hall – plus what’s sure to be a fired-up home crowd – the Jets could easily spoil the opener of the Rodgers-era in Pittsburgh.

New York Giants at Washington Commanders - 1pm ET

The second of the two NFC East battles in Week 1 has obvious appeal: Jayden Daniels, year two. It’s no exaggeration to say that the Washington Commanders QB had one of the greatest debut seasons in NFL history en route to winning Offensive Rookie of the Year and leading his team to a surprise appearance in the NFC Championship game. This will be Daniels’ first home game since his stunning walk-off win against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 17 of last season, and given how starved Washington fans have been for a franchise QB, expect Daniels to get a hero's welcome when they take on their rival New York Giants to open the 2025 campaign.

Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers - 2:25pm ET

Depending on your preferences and predictions, this might be the best game in all of the opening week, as well as the most important one. The NFC North – which sent three teams to the playoffs last year – is once again expected to be one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL, so this game could be huge in terms of tie-breakers come January. On top of that, Packers fans may be treated to the green and gold debut of elite defensive end Micah Parsons, who was traded from the Dallas Cowboys less than two weeks ago. It’s still astonishing that a player of his caliber moved teams, particularly this close to the opening game, but a back injury could keep him out of action. As for the Lions, their coaching staff was picked clean in the offseason, and there were fairly significant roster changes on-the-field as well. But with the return of star pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson, Detroit’s defense could be vastly improved from the unit that was held together by string at the time of their playoff loss to the Commanders. Expect fireworks on both sides of the ball in this one.
