Here’s a brief look ahead at the 2026 MLB season.

When does the 2026 MLB season start?

The 2026 MLB season gets underway on Wednesday, March 25 when the New York Yankees visit the San Francisco Giants for the first-ever MLB game on Netflix. Max Fried is set to take the mound for the Yankees, while Logan Webb will start for the Giants. First pitch is set for 8:05pm ET. 

Two more nationally televised games are set for Thursday, March 26 on NBC. First up, 2025 Cy Young winner Paul Skenes begins the 2026 campaign as he and the Pittsburgh Pirates hit the road for a series against the World Series hopeful New York Mets (1:15pm ET). Then the defending back-to-back champion Los Angeles Dodgers will raise their banner at Dodgers stadium as they open their season against NL West rival Arizona Diamondbacks. That game is scheduled to begin at 8:30pm ET.

What are other key dates in the 2026 MLB season?

As part of America250 celebrations, this year’s All-Star festivities will take place at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Home Run Derby is scheduled for Monday, July 13 at 8pm ET on Netflix with the 96th All-Star Game taking place a day later, at 8pm ET on Tuesday, July 14 on FOX. Two new events will make their debut this year: the All-Star Futures Game at noon on Sunday, July 12 on NBC will showcase "baseball’s top prospects and rising young stars as they take the field on a Major League stage." That will be followed by MLBx, a "fast-paced, 3-on-3 knockout baseball competition featuring teams of Phillies and MLB legends, AUSL stars, and celebrity talent."

The final day of the regular season is Sunday, Sept. 27, and while the playoff schedule has not been released, they’re expected to start on Tuesday, Sept. 29, with the World Series scheduled to begin on Oct. 23.

 

What are the World Series odds for the favorites?

As of this writing, the Los Angeles Dodgers are heavy favorites to repeat as World Series champions, according to DraftKings. The Dodgers are currently sitting at +230 to win their third straight World Series, with the Yankees next at +1000, followed by the Seattle Mariners at +1200, the Mets at +1300, and last year's runner-up Toronto Blue Jays at +1500.
