What is 'Dexter: Resurrection' About?

For the third time, Michael C. Hall will be returning to the role of Dexter Morgan, the “ethical serial killer” who (mostly) murders those who have it coming to them. At the end of the original series, Dexter escapes to Oregon, where he assumes a new identity as a lumberjack. That’s where Dexter: New Blood picks up, as the former “Bay Harbor Butcher” is visited by his long lost son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), who will also be returning for the new series.

We can’t really talk about Dexter: Resurrection without SPOILERS for the end of New Blood, so proceed with caution. As the new series’ title suggests, Dexter is shot by Harrison in the New Blood finale, and appears to bleed out. But as seen in the opening scene of the prequel Dexter: Original Sin, Dexter survives his brush with death, and the new series finds a recovered Dexter setting off to New York City, where he links up with wealthy benefactor Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage), who has a thing for serial killers.

Who is in the Cast of 'Dexter: Resurrection'?

In addition to Hall and Alcott, the returning cast includes James Remar as Dexter’s father Harry Morgan, and David Zayas as Angel Batista, Dexter’s former colleague in the Miami Police department, who seemingly uncovered Dexter’s murderous secret in New Blood.

As for the new cast members, Dexter: Resurrection features a murderer’s row of character actors in its ensemble. Beyond Peter Dinklage – who gave an all-time supporting performance as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones – new cast members include Uma Thurman as Prater’s assistant Charley, Sopranos vet Steve Schirripa as Vinny, and Breaking Bad standout Krysten Ritter as Mia Lapierre aka Lady Vengeance. Other serial killers include Neil Patrick Harris as Lowell/ The Tattoo Collector, Modern Family alum Eric Stonestreet as Al/ Rapunzel, and legendary “that guy” David Dastmalchian as Gareth/ The Gemini Killer. Even long since dead Dexter favorites John Lithgow (Arthur Mitchell/ Trinity Killer) and Jimmy Smits (Miguel Prado) are slated to return in guest roles.

How Many Episodes Does 'Dexter: Resurrection' Have?
