MLB All-Star Game Starting Lineups and Pitchers
The National League faces off against the American League in the MLB All-Star Game, and while the MLB has done away with the rule that the winning team earns home field advantage in the World Series, there’s still plenty at stake. Players on the winning team will split a bonus pool that comes out to approximately $25k for each player, plus a custom All-Star ring. The teams are managed by last season’s World Series managers: Dave Roberts of the L.A. Dodgers will manage the NL roster, with John Schnneider of the Toronto Blue Jays managing the AL. Here is the starting lineup of both teams:

As for the starting pitchers, Left-hander Cristopher Sánchez of the host Philadelphia Phillies takes the mound for the NL, becoming the first Phillies pitcher to start an All-Star Game since Roy Halladay in 2011. On the AL side, Right-hander Dylan Cease of the Toronto Blue Jays is scheduled to become the first Blue Jays pitcher to start the Midsummer Classic since, you guessed it, Roy Halladay in 2009. Here are five fun facts about the 2026 MLB All-Star Game:
A Historic 250th American Birthday Celebration: The 96th Midsummer Classic, hosted at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, doubles as a massive U.S. Semiquincentennial (250th birthday) celebration. The pregame ceremonies will feature local and patriotic themes, including a reading by Pennsylvania native Miles Teller and musical performances by EGOT winner Jennifer Hudson and Philadelphia native Patti LaBelle.
Kyle Schwarber's Leadoff Spot and Quest for Back-to-Back MVP History: Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber was named to the starting National League lineup as the designated hitter, replacing the injured Shohei Ohtani. NL manager Dave Roberts has Schwarber hitting in the leadoff spot. If Schwarber takes home the MVP award, he will become only the second player in MLB history (joining Mike Trout) to win All-Star Game MVP in consecutive years, following his historic 2025 performance where he won the game for the NL in a first-of-its-kind home run swing-off. To top off his big week, Schwarber barely lost the Home Run Derby on Monday night to Jordan Walker of the St. Louis Cardinals.
A "Brotherly Love" Connection: Hosting the game in the City of "Brotherly" Love is exceptionally fitting for brothers William and Willson Contreras, who were both selected as All-Stars. William (catching for the Brewers) and Willson (selected as an infielder for the Red Sox) are one of only 19 sets of brothers in baseball history to both be selected as All-Stars, marking the second time they are appearing in the Midsummer Classic together.
Rapid Ascent of the 2024 Draft Class: Reflecting a massive youth movement across the league, three of the top four draft picks from the 2024 MLB Draft have already been selected as All-Stars in 2026. These rising stars making their early mark are Cleveland's Travis Bazzana, Cincinnati's Chase Burns, and Oakland's Nick Kurtz.
Starters Channeling Hall of Fame Legacies: The starting pitchers for both leagues are making history for their respective franchises. National League starter Cristopher Sánchez will be the first Phillies starting pitcher since Hall of Famer Roy Halladay in 2011, and only the 14th pitcher in MLB history to start the All-Star Game in his home ballpark. Meanwhile, American League starter Dylan Cease will be the first Blue Jays pitcher to start the Midsummer Classic since Halladay did so for Toronto in 2009.
