DISH Anywhere for the New Year

Four Movies for Four New Year’s Eves

There are maybe 90 seconds on the night of New Year’s Eve that are truly exciting: The ten seconds counting down to midnight, and the next minute or two when we try to remember the words to Auld Lang Syne at the same time we’re singing it.

Should old acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind…
Something something,
mumble mumble
and Auld Lang Syne.

Let’s be real. We spend most of the time on New Year’s Eve just waiting around. And that’s not a bad thing! We hope that you’re waiting for 2017 in an enjoyable, relaxing, and interesting place, with people you love. Maybe, like many, you’re taking the opportunity to do some holiday traveling. Soak in some sun, hit the slopes—even head to the main event in Times Square. Wherever you are, and whoever you’re with, you’re going to need entertainment.

So might we recommend… DISH Anywhere. Watch anything you can watch at home, on any computer or mobile device, any time, any place. Here are just a few things you might enjoy watching with friends and family. Even on New Year’s Eve, even in…

Miami!

Our suggestion if you’re enjoying the mild climes of the beautiful southern city is The Godfather II. Not only was the Scorsese classic filmed in Miami, it also has one of the most iconic New Year’s Eve scenes in all of cinema. Be warned, it’s a gut punch. But overall an extremely worthwhile film.

Vegas!

Put on Oceans Thirteen! The sequel to Oceans Twelve is a full on Brad Pitt / George Clooney / Julia Roberts glam fest. SPOILER ALERT: The plot concerns the planned robbery of a Las Vegas casino.

Times Square!

Whoa, you can watch TV in movies in the middle of Times Square on New Year’s Eve? Yes! This is what we’ve been saying. Any time, any place. If you’re really so moved, we recommend Ghostbusters II. The whole movie leads to a New Year’s Eve frenzy of supernatural attacks on the good people of New York City, and said ghosts must be combatted with positively charged mood slime, among other things. It’s a real feel good movie.

The Slopes of Aspen!

When you’re resting up after a long day of skiing, you need a movie that asks nothing more of you than to relax and have a fun time. So, in that spirit, we recommend firing up Hot Tub Time Machine 2, the sequel to the renowned Hot Tub Time Machine. As far as we know, neither of these films won awards at international film festivals. And yet, the sequel, set in the near future, is every bit the delight the original is. It is like a hot tub for your mind. And also like a time machine, as you will hardly notice the hours passing.

Wherever your New Year’s Eve takes you, you don’t need to travel all over the country to watch on-demand movies on DISH Anywhere. You don’t even have to leave your house! And sometimes, even on New Year’s Eve, that’s the best plan.
