Between the opening monologue, the glamorous fashion, and the unexpected moments that can only happen live, The Oscars® are always must-see television. But this year’s awards ceremony – which airs Sunday, March 2 at 7pm ET/4pm PT LIVE on ABC – should also feature plenty of intrigue to go with the dramas.
With less than a week to go in awards season, the Best Picture and Best Actor races were upended by surprise upsets at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Conclave took home the top prize for best film ensemble, and Timothée Chalament of A Complete Unknown won Best Actor over past Oscar-winner Adrian Brody of The Brutalist. Anora, which had previously been the favorite for the Best Picture Oscar, went home empty handed. Combined with Conclave’s Best Film win at the BAFTA’s (Britain’s version of The Oscars®), it appears there’s now a three-way race for Best Picture between Anora, The Brutalist, and Conclave.
To see who wins, tune-in to The 97th Oscars® live on Sunday, March 2 at 7pm ET/4pm PT on ABC. Here’s what else you can expect from the show.
Who is Hosting The Oscars®?
After Jimmy Kimmel hosted for the fourth time in 2024, Oscar producers hit the reset button and turned to a first-time host this year: Late night and comedy legend Conan O’Brien. Along with being one of the funniest and most sharp-minded people on the planet, Conan has plenty of experience to lean on. He’s previously hosted The Emmys® twice, the MTV Movie Awards, the White House Correspondents Dinner, the NFL Honors, two Christmas in Washington specials, and a Game of Thrones reunion show.
Who are the Presenters?
The newest batch of presenters include Dave Bautista, Harrison Ford, Gal Gadot, Andrew Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Margaret Qualley, Alba Rohrwacher, Zoe Saldaña and Rachel Zegler. Joe Alwyn, Sterling K. Brown, Willem Dafoe, Ana de Armas, Lily-Rose Depp, Selena Gomez, Goldie Hawn, Connie Nielsen, Ben Stiller and Oprah Winfrey were announced as presenters earlier this week. Other presenters include last year’s winners in the acting categories: Robert Downey Jr., Cillian Murphy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Emma Stone. Halle Berry, Penélope Cruz, Elle Fanning, Whoopi Goldberg, Scarlett Johansson, John Lithgow, Amy Poehler, June Squibb and Bowen Yang have also been tapped to present.
Who is Performing at The Oscars®?
On Feb. 24, producers announced that Doja Cat, Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, LISA of Blackpink, Queen Latifah and RAYE will all be performing at the awards show. Additionally, the Oscars® will include “a special appearance by the Los Angeles Master Chorale.”
What is the schedule on Oscar night?
The official red carpet show gets underway beginning at 6:30pm ET/ 3:30pm PT on Sunday, March 2, live on ABC. That’s followed by the 97th Oscars® live from the Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood at 7pm ET/ 4pm PT, also on ABC.
