Game of Thrones: Battles and Fights (Spoiler Alert)

Game of Thrones is one of those shows that has all the shock value you can handle, especially with fight scenes. Few shows, if any, offer battles and fights as intense as those on GoT. Just when you start to like a character, that person is killed off in some epic way.

We’re sure Season 5 will bring its own share of shocking moments, but until then, here is a recap of our favorite battle scenes so far.

The Mountain vs. Prince Oberyn (Red Viper)

This was quite possibly the most disturbing scene of the entire series. Sure, you could argue that this honor should go to the Red Wedding, but both were intense. The Red Viper was just starting to grow on everyone when he stood up for Tyrion Lannister, but George R.R. Martin made sure you wouldn’t get too close to him. Can you say “crushed”?

The Battle of Castle Black

What do you get when you have 100 men battling 100,000 men? One hell of a battle! Add in giants, mammoths and an enormous scythe, and what ensues is one of the most epic battles of the series. Jon Snow may not know much, but he sure does know how to fight the Wildlings.

The Hound vs. Brienne of Tarth

Brienne of Tarth is one badass woman. Nobody gets in her way, not even the Hound. And when she was trying to rescue Arya Stark from the Hound, he found out why she was not to be messed with. Who’s next for Brienne? The Mountain?

Battle of the Blackwater

The Blackwater battle is incredible because everyone involved gets busted up. King Joffrey chickens out in his first battle, and Tyrion fights to save the city but also gets nearly decapitated by one of his own men. As Stannis closes in on King’s Landing, Tyrion saves the day by ordering Bronn to fire an arrow into the Wildfire, which explodes nearly the entire Stannis army. BOOM goes the dynamite!

Arya and the Hound vs. the Lannister Bannerman

All this for a simple chicken. Maybe two chickens. The Hound was ready to die for some chicken. Well, someone was — and boy did they. Even Arya got revenge for her friend from earlier. Must have been important chicken.
