Help DISH close the hunger gap by signing up for AutoPay

In 2015, 42.2 million Americans lived in food insecure households, or households lacking reliable access to sufficient, nutritious food. This year, DISH, together with our customers, is helping to fill the hunger gap, one bill at a time.

DISH is partnering with to help food pantries feed millions of men, women and children experiencing hunger by enabling local gardeners to donate fresh food to nearby food pantries. During the month of March, for every customer that enrolls in AutoPay, our automatic billing system, DISH will donate $1 to to aid a local food pantry to provide three meals of fresh, healthy produce.’s story began in 2007, when Gary Oppenheimer took 40 pounds of excess squash, melons, tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers to a local food pantry for battered women. The overwhelming appreciation he received made him realize the scarcity of fresh foods in local food pantries.

As an answer to America’s hunger gap and waste of surplus harvest from local gardens, Oppenheimer created a technology platform to connect gardeners with local food pantries in need of fresh produce and to reduce the amount of jars, cans and boxes that end up in the waste stream from traditionally donated food. Today, connects nearly 8,000 food pantries across all 50 states to local gardeners and farmers.
