Gone are the days of simultaneously juggling popcorn and your remote control while browsing for a movie to watch. Ever since DISH launched support for Amazon Alexa voice control on our Hopper DVR in April 2017, you no longer have to set down your snacks to channel surf – just ask Alexa to do it for you!
Today we’re taking Hands-Free TVTM to the next level by extending DISH’s support of Alexa to all Joey clients. This means that DISH customers can now use Alexa to control all TVs in the Hopper whole-home ecosystem by pairing each set-top box with an Amazon Echo, Echo Show, or Echo Dot.
Remember Joeys? They’re the small receivers that extend TV functionality to rooms throughout your home, when connected to the Hopper system. For example, if you have a Hopper connected to the TV in your living room, the Joeys connect to any additional TV throughout your home, like in your bedroom, office, game room or kitchen. And if you have Hopper 3, it can support up to six Joeys, meaning you can now ask Alexa to control as many as seven TVs!
