Colorado tech community honors DISH CIO John Swieringa

We’re proud to be a Colorado company, headquartered in the Denver metro area since our three founders first opened the doors 35 years ago.

And we were thrilled last night when the Colorado Technology Association named John Swieringa Chief Information Officer of the Year for his active role in our state’s tech community and his innovative approach to the job of CIO.

As John sees it, the CIO sits at the intersection of our company’s employees and our customers. His team’s focus is enabling DISH employees to be the best at serving our customers.

We have an expansive, nationwide workforce of 19,000+ employees – from technicians in the field to customer service agents, manufacturing teams and our employees here at headquarters.

Our IT team is committed to advancing the tools available to this workforce with innovations like My Tech, our new online appointment tool that gives customers the name, photo and location of their DISH technician as he travels to their home.

It’s not often that Fortune 250 companies are asked to behave like a startup. Earlier this year, when DISH launched Sling TV, that’s exactly what John and his team were asked to do.

To build the IT business infrastructure that would support this new product, John tapped into the local tech community. Collaborating with Colorado-based tech firms, the DISH team was able to create solutions with the speed and flexibility of a small startup.

Colorado’s technology community is evolving quickly as it attracts top-tier talent from across the nation. At DISH, we’re proud of Colorado’s innovative culture and we’ll continue to look for opportunities to get involved.

Congrats to John and the DISH IT team on this accomplishment!
