Get Sucked Into Sharknado 5

Behind the scenes and inside the vortex

The tagline of SYFY’s Sharknado 5: Global Swarming is “Make America Bait Again.” Chums, of all the things America could be and become, “bait” seems highly likely—and that’s hard to swallow. America should not be devoured by sharks.

And yet the fifth installment of the Sharknado series debuts on SYFY this Sunday, August 6th. It promises to consume not just America, but the whole world. It’s a global swarming. We’re either going to have to beat the raging cyclone of razor-toothed fishmeat, or we’re gonna need a bigger planet.

If you don’t currently have SYFY in your channel lineup, you’re gonna need a bigger package. SYFY comes in America’s Top 120 and above. Subscribe now to DISH.

In Sharknado 5, Plan A is to send the shark swarms back where they came from. Fin Shepard (Ian Ziering) and April Wexler (Tara Reid) return after surviving four previous sharknadoes, starting with the first one in Los Angeles. That was a mere waterspout that hurled man-eating sharks into the city. Soon, though, history repeated itself first as tragedy, then as farce, then again a few more times… and now the atmospheric shark infestations of Sharknado 5 are upon us.

Nowhere on Earth is safe. Shark-bearing storms have grown stronger and more complex. The nations of the world must come together to stave off an all-encompassing feeding frenzy.

With nothing but some shotguns, chainsaws, baseball bats, and their own two feet, Fin, April, Al Roker, and assorted others fight, kick, bludgeon, ride, and surf hungry sharks through Washington, D.C., London, and Rome. At one point, a shark flies in and bites someone in half. It’s not pretty.

What is pretty? Ian Ziering and Tara Reid dishing on their favorite things about SYFY’s Sharknado 5. Watch right here.
