Following last month’s surprise announcement that President Joe Biden was dropping out of the 2024 Presidential race against former President Donald Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris will officially accept the party’s nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Along with her VP pick, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Harris will kick off her campaign in earnest during the DNC, which runs from Monday, Aug. 19 to Thur., Aug. 22. How to Watch the DNC with DISH
MSNBC, CNN, and FOX News are all planning extensive live coverage throughout the week, and all three channels are available with America’s Top 120 Package and up. CNN
According to a press release, CNN’s coverage of the DNC from inside the United Center kicks off Sunday, Aug. 18, with Jake Tapper hosting State of the Union at 9am ET. Special editions of CNN Newsroom with Jessica Dean, Erin Burnett OutFront, Anderson Cooper 360, The Source with Kaitlan Collins, NewsNight with Abby Phillip and Laura Coates Live will follow.
Once the DNC begins on Monday, Aug. 19, daily coverage throughout the four-day event includes:
- CNN This Morning with Kasie Hunt at 5am ET.
- CNN News Central will start at 7am ET, with Sara Sidner and John Berman in Chicago and Kate Bolduan in studio.
- CNN Newsroom with Jim Acosta airs live from Chicago from 10am-12pm ET, joined by Abby Phillip at 11am ET from the DNC.
- Inside Politics with Dana Bash begins at 12pm ET from the convention.
- CNN News Central starts at 1pm ET with Brianna Keilar on the ground in Illinois and Boris Sanchez in studio.
- The Lead: CNN Democratic National Convention with Jake Tapper airs from 4-5pm ET. Tapper will be joined by CNN’s Erin Burnett, Audie Cornish and Manu Raju.
- The Situation Room: CNN Democratic National Convention and Erin Burnett OutFront: CNN Democratic National Convention with Wolf Blitzer and Erin Burnett in Chicago will air from 5-8pm ET. Chris Wallace, Kasie Hunt, David Chalian, Jamie Gangel, and CNN’s top-tier political commentators will join coverage.
- CNN Democratic National Convention special live coverage continues from 8pm ET-12am ET with Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper capturing each night’s events. Abby Phillip and CNN’s expert analysts and commentators will join Cooper’s panel, and Dana Bash and John King will join Tapper’s panel in the arena.
- Laura Coates will then continue CNN Democratic National Convention special live coverage from 12-2am ET, joined by CNN’s Mark Preston and a panel of leading political voices, as well as Harry Enten reporting live from the CNN-POLITICO Grill.
FOX News
FOX News will have on-site coverage of the DNC from Sunday, Aug. 18 through Friday, Aug. 23. According to a news release from FOX News, their coverage with begin on Sunday, “with FOX News Sunday anchored by Shannon Bream (check your local listings). From 10 AM-12 PM/ET on FNC, Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino will anchor America’s Newsroom, followed by Outnumbered at 12 PM/ET, America Reports from 1-3 PM/ET, The Story with Martha MacCallum at 3 PM/ET and Bret Baier’s Special Report at 6 PM/ET. The Ingraham Angle, Jesse Watters Primetime and Hannity will broadcast live at 7 PM, 8 PM and 9 PM/ET respectively.” FOX News is also planning a new special, FOX News Democracy 2024: The Democratic National Convention, that will air nightly from Monday, August 19 through Thursday, August 22 at 10 PM/ET. That bumps Gutfeld! to 11pm ET, where, for the first time, Greg Gutfeld will have a live studio audience from his New York studio.
MSNBC
MSNBC will also be on-location at the United Center for live coverage of the DNC. According to Ad Week:
Weekday coverage starts bright and early at 6 a.m. with the Morning Joe team of Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski and Willie Geist. At noon, Andrea Mitchell will anchor Andrea Mitchell Reports, followed by Chris Jansing Reports at 1 p.m. Joy Reid will anchor live from Chicago alongside Ari Melber in New York starting at 6 p.m., with Alex Wagner providing special coverage from the convention floor.
As MSNBC enters primetime hours, Rachel Maddow hosts coverage starting at 8 p.m. She’ll be joined be the full team of Melber, Chris Hayes, Lawrence O’Donnell, Stephanie Ruhle and Jen Psaki. Reid and Wagner will chime in from Chicago. Psaki will close out each day with special midnight coverage.
Who is Speaking at the DNC?
Each night of the DNC will feature a different speaker headlining each night. The major daily speakers are as follows (schedule subject to change):
Monday: President Joe Biden
Tuesday: Former President Barack Obama and second gentleman Doug Emhoff
Wednesday: Vice Presidential Nominee Tim Walz, former President Bill Clinton
Thursday: Vice President and Democratic Presidential Nominee Kamala Harris
According to NBC News, additional speakers will include former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (on Monday) and Jason Carter, grandson of former President Jimmy Carter. Although the full list of speakers has yet to be revealed, the Chicago Sun-Times reports that legendary director Steven Spielberg will also “help shape the convention and make the Biden handoff to Harris seamless.”
