Nominations for the 96th Academy Awards were announced on Tuesday, Jan. 23. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer led with 13 nominations, followed by the surreal Frankenstien-but-feminist Poor Things with 11. Barbie, the highest-grossing film of 2023, earned eight nominations, including Best Picture.
