With DISH, you can watch dozens of movies and shows starring superheroes. But in the real world, heroes don’t always get the recognition they deserve. With DISH’s Hometown Heroes program, we’re trying to change that.
From coaches to educators, military vets to healthcare workers and first responders, DISH wants to recognize the hometown heroes that are changing the world one community at a time.
We’re kicking things off this August by honoring the High School Coach of the Year. No matter the sport, high school coaches can impact the lives of their student athletes in ways that go far beyond the results on the field. If you know a deserving coach, you have until Friday, Aug. 26 to nominate them. Follow this link to make your nomination for High School Coach of the Year; finalists will be announced on Sept. 1 and you’ll have until Oct. 1 to vote for the recipient. We’ll announce the recipient on Oct. 14.
Throughout the year, DISH will be honoring Hometown Heroes in a variety of categories. Beginning in November, you’ll be able to nominate candidates for Military Member or Veteran of the Year; next February, we’ll be honoring the First Responder/ Healthcare Worker of the Year; and next summer, we’ll pay tribute to the Educator of the Year.
The pride of recognition isn’t all these heroes will be receiving. Each recipient will receive a prize package worth more than $6,400 in value, including:
- A DISH Home Theater and Smart Home makeover prize package.
- An all-inclusive trip to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville furnished by CircleTV. recipients will also be recognized on Coffee, Country and Cody, plus the Opry live shows.
- A $100 gift card to dine at Ole Red.
So even if these heroes don’t stand out in spandex and a cape, DISH is honored to help shine a light on the impact they’re making in their communities. For more information, complete rules, and to learn more about those who have already been nominated, visit the DISH Hometown Heroes website today!
