It’s early in 2015 is already shaping up to be an incredible year in tech. Between the Consumer Electronics Show and South by Southwest, we’ve seen major developments in food science, automotive technology and cutting-edge media applications.

With NCAA® March Madness® in full swing, Meerkat showcased an awesome way for spectators to live-stream games. CES revealed that drone technology is continuing to evolve. In fact, soon the sky will be swarming with airborne everything (including cars if AeroMobil has anything to say about it). Here’s some of the best tech we saw in March:

Virtual reality
While many skeptics seem to think virtual reality is a passing fad (much due to the campy representations of it in movies), this technology is here to stay. Oculus Rift’s newest prototype, dubbed Crescent Bay, made VR an exciting advancement that could soon reach a mainstream audience.

TV is everywhere
Television used to be something you watched as you molded into the couch at home, but not anymore. New products such as Sling TV from DISH let you conveniently enjoy shows and movies anywhere. At $20 a month, Sling TV is one of the technologies CNet imagines people will point to as the force that changed how we watch television. Of course, if you’re still in need of television for your home, DISH Anywhere is the perfect mobile companion to home TV service.

IoT is everything
FireChat has proved that you don’t need a traditional Internet connection to communicate. The app won an Interactive Innovation Award at SXSW 2015! It allows users to connect without an Internet connection and is already being widely used at festivals and conferences. While off-the-grid systems have been around for a few years, the popularity of FireChat highlights the future of connectivity. (Besides, everyone could use some off-the-grid time).
