Djokovic Goes For GOAT Status

Nearing the end of his career, 37-year-old Novak Djokovic is already one of the most respected players to pick up a racket, but he could move into GOAT territory this year at Melbourne park. With 10 Australian Open wins, he already has the most titles in the tournament’s history, but after losing in the semifinals last year, he’s aiming for a bigger legacy: One more Grand Slam win would see him move past Margaret Court and set an all-time record with 25 major titles in his career.

Heat For the Three-Peat

At the Australian Open, World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka has the chance to do something unprecedented in the 21st century: Win three-consecutive titles down under, a feat last accomplished by Martina Hingis from 1997-99. Sabalenka – who defeated 22-year-old Chinese star Qinwen Zheng in last year’s final – also won the U.S. Open last year, and enters the Australian Open as the betting favorite to win the Women’s Singles title (more on that below).

Sinner Man Gonna Run Through?

Like Sabalenka, Italian Jannik Sinner won both the Australian Open and U.S. Open in 2024, and he too enters this year’s tournament as the betting favorite. In fact, Sinner only lost two matches all of last year, and became the first player in nearly 40 years to win the ATP Final without dropping a single set.
