5 Things to Watch on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME

It’s showtime for the rebranding of SHOWTIME!

The premium programmer will now be known as Paramount+ with SHOWTIME, a nod to its availability within the Paramount+ streaming service. But for DISH subscribers, the new name hints at the Paramount+ programming that’s now available to those with a subscription to the channel formerly known as SHOWTIME.

To be clear, not all Paramount+ programming is available on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME. But the newly rebranded network will have a handful of the most popular Paramount+ series available on-demand. Here’s a look at some of the best titles to check out this January on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME. To add Paramount+ with SHOWTIME to your DISH subscription, follow this link. Not a DISH subscriber? The Curse

The cringiest show of the fall wraps up its 10-episode run on Friday, Jan. 12. Starring Emma Stone and co-creator Nathan Fielder, The Curse is a sharp satire of influencer culture, the perils of gentrification, and the manufactured authenticity of reality television. It’s also very weird, and frequently brilliant, even if the laughs might hit a little too close to home.

Mayor of Kingstown

This series from Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan stars Jeremy Renner as the titular “Mayor” of Kingstown, a fictional Michigan city where the prison is the only business in town…and business is booming. Season 2 premiered just weeks after Renner was seriously injured in a snow plow accident on New Year’s Day 2023, but it sounds like he’s heading back to work on season 3 this January. Catch up on the first two seasons before the third season premieres.

Halo

Based on the best-selling video game, the Halo series premiered to solid reviews for its first season in 2022. Many critics suggested that with the world-building of season one out of the way, it should be even better in its second season, which premieres on Paramount+ in February.

Billions

The seventh and final season of this long-running series just wrapped up, making this the perfect time to binge the whole thing. With a cast that includes Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis and featuring complicated characters inspired by the real life titans of the financial world (and those charged with enforcing its laws), Billions is certainly on the short list of SHOWTIME’s best original series.

Star Trek: Discovery

This series is set about a decade before the adventures of Captain James T. Kirk, placing it relatively early in the show’s mythology. Longtime Trekkies will recognize some of the story references, but as its title implies, Star Trek: Discovery is a great jumping-off point for those who are just beginning to explore the franchise. Watch the first four seasons before its final season premieres on Paramount+ in April.
