Sesame Workshop

In March, Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization that produces Sesame Street, announced an “expanded content partnership” with new shows and specials, including an upcoming miniseries based on the children’s classic Charlotte’s Web. The first of these new shows to premiere is Mecha Builders, a preschooler-focused animated show that “reimagines Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Abby Cadabby as robot heroes in training who use their STEM superpowers to solve wacky larger-than-life problems.”

HBO Max is also the streaming home of The Not Too Late Show with Elmo, a cute and clever talk show parody where Elmo and his sidekick Cookie Monster “put playtime front and center with games, songs, and celebrity friends.” And of course, you can catch fresh 30-minute episodes of season 52 of Sesame Street on HBO Max, with new episodes premiering every Thursday.

DC Shows

As most parents know, kids can’t get enough of superheroes and the DC Hub on HBO Max has plenty of age-appropriate titles for youngsters. Beyond classic shows like Batman: The Animated Series and superfriends, HBO Max has plenty of original series. Aquaman: King of Atlantis picks up where the 2018 film left off and features an anime-inspired animation style. Young Justice, which focuses on younger superheroes in the DC Universe, recently premiered the second half of its fourth season, Phantoms. And for a female-focused take on DC heroes, HBO Max has DC Super Hero Girls: Hero of the Year and other titles from the DC Super Hero Girls franchise.

Cartoon Network

HBO Max is also the streaming home of classic Cartoon Network series, including Adventure Time, which has a random style of humor that makes it just as entertaining for parents as it is for their kids. Adventure Time writer Rebecca Sugar created Steven Universe and all five seasons of the show have a perfect 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s also worth spotlighting We Bare Bears and its new spin-off, We Baby Bears. With adorable animation and uplifting messages about tolerance and the importance of family, the Bears bring the warm and fuzzies.

Classic Cartoons

Lastly, HBO Max has a deep catalog of classic cartoons from the Hanna-Barbera and Warner Bros. libraries. Parents of a certain age can introduce their kids to The Flintstones and The Jetsons, with every episode of both shows available on demand. Scooby-Doo has proven to be an enduring franchise, and HBO Max has the original series’ and the many live-action and animated spin-offs. And for many of us, Looney Tunes is the first thing that comes to mind when hearing the word “cartoons.” HBO Max has the original shorts, along with the new Looney Tunes Cartoons, plus movies like the original Space Jam and last year’s sequel starring LeBron James.
