1. Make sure your receiver is powered on
- Make sure the power cord is plugged in. The power cord usually has a red tag. Ensure it is tightly connected to the back of the receiver.
- Look for a green light on the front of the receiver when you turn it on. If there isn’t, press the Power button on the front panel of the receiver.
- If you’re still unable to watch programming, continue to the following steps.
2. Check that the guide is working
- On your remote, pres the SAT button followed by the Guide button
-If you can access the guide with a black screen, follow the steps for Black Screen With Guide.
3. Make sure your receiver is connected properly to the TV
- Ensure the video cable is securely connected from the back or side of your TV to the back of your receiver.
- Ensure any other equipment between your TV and receiver is connected security and powered “ON” as well.
4. Place the TV on the right input
- Press the Input or Source button on your original TV remote or TV itself. Pause for 5 seconds between each press to see if anything appears onscreen.
5. Restart your receiver
VIP/Wally Receivers
- Unplug the power cord of your DISH receiver for 10 seconds, then plug it back in. The reset process may take up to 5 minutes to complete.
Hopper/Joey Receivers
- Be sure to reset the Hopper before the Joey.
- Unplug the power cord of your DISH receiver for 10 seconds, then plug it back in. The reset process may take up to 5 minutes to complete.
