What kind of 3D glasses are required?
There are two types of 3D HD TV's sold - active-shutter and film-patterned retarder (FPR), also known as passive polarized. Active-shutter 3D HD TVs require 3D glasses that use electronic shutters and rapidly open and close each lens in response to commands received from the 3D HD TV. FPR (Film Patterned Retarder) 3D technology relies on the television's polarized screen, not the glasses, to generate the 3D image. The 3D glasses simply allow the 3D image to be delivered to each eye concurrently. As a result, customers can use comfortable and lightweight glasses just like in the movie theaters.
